County Affiliation

Earlier this year, for reasons explained at the time, Bath Bridge Club switched its county affiliation from Avon to Wiltshire. Some members have since asked what the position is regarding their own individual county affiliation.

The situation is that if you take no action your individual affiliation will remain unchanged, i.e. if you were a member of Avon you will continue to be a member of Avon. If you were a member of both Wiltshire and Avon, one county will have been your county of prime allegiance (largely for representative purposes). This too will remain unchanged.

If you wish to change your county affiliation, you need to request the change via the EBU. This can be done in one of the following ways:

  • If you have already paid your EBU subscription this year through Avon, you may wish to leave things as they are until next year's subscription becomes due and then renew requesting a change to Wiltshire.
  • If you have already paid this year but wish to change now, Eileen Maunder at the EBU can send you a transfer form to complete. The EBU would then change their records and notify both Avon and Wilts.
  • If you have not yet paid this year, you can request a change when you do pay.

Given that you can play in county events of multiple counties, providing you are a member, there is no real need to take any action unless you are hoping to represent a particular county. If, as a member of Avon, you have been playing in Avon events, you can continue to do so. If you would also like to play in Wiltshire events but are not yet a member, please contact the WCBA membership secretary, David Thackerberry.

If you still have any questions about county affiliation please contact me.
